HTS-1:Crafting Historical Arguments from Historical EvidenceDuring Advanced Placement World History this year, in the area of Historical Argumentation I learned the ability to define and make a question about the past and make a solid argument about it. I had to show full understanding about how events that happened our world today. I demonstrated this through March Madness. In March Madness we were assigned a leader in history and we went debating against other leaders on whether who had a greater impact in the world at that time. I had to research information about our leader on the internet looking through videos, essays, and biographies to have a solid argument on why my leader was better and what made my opponent worst. Evidence: Below on the picture on the left shows the packet with all the leaders and debates in March Madness and on the right is my debate paper about my leader which was Louis XIV. March Madness helped me make an argument and using it to win my debate. |

HTS-3:Comparison and ContextualizationIn APWH this year in the skill of comparison, I had a lot of practice because we wrote many comparison essays throughout the year. I had to compare and contrast the similarities and differences between different regions and eras. One essay that really shows my understanding in this skill was the comparison essay between the Neolithic Revolution and the Industrial Revolution. What really helped me write this essay was using spice. Spice stands fro Social, Political, Interaction, Cultural, and Economic. Spice helped me compare the Neolithic Revolution with the Industrial Revolution by categorizing the information I knew and organizing my thoughts better. For example a similarity I wrote about was that both revolutions led to growth in urban centers and a difference was in the Neolithic Revolution they had stone tools vs steel and iron in the Industrial Revolution. Evidence: In the pictures below on the left I have my comparison essay about the Neolithic Revolution and the Industrial Revoulution and on the right is the prompt to that essay. This essay show that I could compare a topic in various aspects from spice. |
